kicked out

I was all prepared to show all the pics from Daniel's birthday party, but plans change. Our office was transformed into a recording studio tonight for Derek and Eli. So I was kicked off the computer. Banned to the phone as my only blogging form. Not my favorite I might add. I wasn't kicked out of the room completely though. They let me do a little videoing. Hopefully Derek will share it soon. Off to finish laundry and sterilize bottles. You know-super fun and exciting stuff.

Moving In and Moving On

We've recently had someone move in with us. An unwelcomed guest. His name is T.M. Or as I refer to him--Teething Monster. I knew he was coming. Since month three we've had drenched shirts, lots of bibs, chewing and gnawing on everything--even crib bars. But he hasn't really bothered Ingrid until recently. I can tell the past few days that he is really hurting her. She started the day like this.

Feeling not so great. Looking a tad sad and chewing on her fingers in between bites of breakfast. (And yes, I got another snow day!!! So I got to be home with her all day. Hooray for me.) But have no fear, Ing moved on from feeling yucky. I got her mind off those stubborn teeth trying to poke through with some toys! There was a ton of sunlight streaming in her windows this morning. So we took advantage and played in her room right in front of them.

One of the new games she likes to play is to pick up a toy and toss it behind her. Then she turns herself around to get it and plays with it in its new location. Or maybe this is just her way of saying she likes to play by herself sometimes. haha.

Here she is standing at her play table (with help of course). She's concentrating very hard.

Moving on to another one of Ing's tricks. She is loving sitting up now. She either wants to be on her tummy, or sitting, or standing. Since she is such a mover and a shaker, we thought it was time to lower her crib mattress. Derek did this a couple of weeks ago. I'm glad because she loves to hang onto her crib bars. I caught her trying to pull up on them last weekend. I went ahead and helped her get to a sitting position. She was feeling pretty proud of herself.

I'm pretty proud of her too...

Three-day weekend???

Since the first day of winter, I have started hoping for snow days. Ingrid helped me chant the snow day chant.

As a teacher, I love a snow day just as much as I did as a student. Who doesn't love an extra day snuggled up at home, especially when it's attached to the weekend!

Ingrid and I have lazed around in our jammies today. She started the morning with some cereal and tried out her new sippy cup! She loved holding it and chewing on the spout. But had to have a little help to get the milk out. She drank over half! I was so proud.

She has played and played with her toys. She has such a long attention span! She's still not crawling forward, just backwards. Here she scooted back so far she was almost underneath the couch!

When Derek came home for lunch, we bundled Ing up in her snow suit from Derek's Aunt Carol and went outside to look at the pretty snow! She loved it.

We had a great weekend. Too bad I don't have pictures to prove it. My camera battery died and I can't seem to find my charger at the moment. I've just been taking pics with my phone. Derek and I started off the weekend right with a couple new purchases at The Good Stuff flea market. We found two little owls to hang in Ingrid's nursery and a new end table for the living room.

We got to go to Ozark to hang with Heather and Ross and the girls. Dad rode with us since Mom had been up there for the week helping out with new baby E. We had so much fun. Ingrid even got to meet a new friend! Luckily Heather took some pics and you can see them here. Since I have no new pics of Elise, I'll leave you with an old one.

Six Month Birthday

Dear Ingrid-

Happy Birthday!  You are six months old today.  Half a year...I really can't believe how fast time has flown.  I've heard people say it my whole life.  But I've never fully grasped how true it is until you came into this world six months ago.  You bring so much joy to my life.  I love you with a new kind of love that overflows from my heart.  I love seeing your smile each morning.  I love hearing your squeal and laugh when we tickle you.  I want to share each new thing you do.  I want to document milestones big and small because I don't ever want to forget any of them.

At six months you love so many things!  You seem to have such a zest for life.  You wake up every  morning with a huge smile on your face.  You definitely love to eat.  You drink milk and eat rice and oatmeal cereal.  Now that you are six months old you get to start baby food and I think you will be so excited to try something new.  Toys are your favorite things.  You can play for hours and hours.  You are so blessed to have your Gammy and Nana watch you while I'm at work each day.  You love kicking your legs, rolling over and over on your pallets and in your crib.  You love sitting in your high chair like a big girl.  You love listening to me read stories to you and daddy playing the guitar and singing to you.  You love listening to your pal Violet any time of day.  You love big groups when the family is all together.  You love your pink silky and rubbing your eyes when you are sleepy.

Ingrid Cate, you are my precious girl.  I love you with all my heart.  Happy six months!

Love,
Mommy
