Ingrid's Big Bash: Party Hats
The birthday party was a smashing success. I had the best time with all my family celebrating one year of life for my baby girl. The weather was hot, but we are fortunate to have shade trees and a rather gusty breeze was blowing. I am so thankful that Derek took tons (over 500!!!) of pictures of the party so I can have all the memories forever. Late Saturday night I was talking with Derek and I equated Ingrid's party to our wedding. hahaha. Crazy?? It just seems like there was so much planning and crafting and preparing and then it was over in a blink of an eye. Photographs are such treasures in helping remember special events. So I give a HUGE shout-out to my husby for carrying around his hefty camera all evening and snapping away pics for our girl. I'm going to have to break up the party into multiple posts because there are soooo many wonderful pics. I don't want to leave out anything. I'm starting with the party hat photos because this was one of the projects I was most excited about creating. Since Ingrid didn't have many kid guests, I was able to make each of them a hat. I used red, white, and blue stiff felt and hot glued the hat into shape. Then I used felt cut-outs of stars and letters to make each girls hat personal. Ingrid's hat got a little special attention. I appliqued a felt one onto her hat with embroidery floss and added a embroidery border around the bottom edge for a pop of blue. A white felt pom-pom (left over from a Christmas wreath) and felt cut-out letters on the back finished up her party hat. I never dreamed we would get a picture of all four girls wearing their hats, but we did! Once again--thanks so much D!
